This
renovation combines two apartments of a prominent Rittenhouse Square apartment
building to occupy one full floor for owners who desired a backdrop for
festive entertaining. All of the old finishes and antiquated equipment were
removed from the space and stripped down to the raw steel columns and concrete
floor slabs.
A linked series of exuberant vaulted spaces were inserted within this shell
to create a processional sequence from the elevator entrance to the principal
entertaining rooms. The rooms are highly decorated with wood and plaster
ornament on both walls and ceilings and punctuated by ornately colored geometric
marble floor patterns.
