In 2003, Kass & Associates was selected as the Architects for Philadelphia Magazine’s Design Home at the The Lanesborough, providing architectural design services for the transformation of the building’s lobby and new street canopy, as well as designing the 3,500 square foot model showcase unit. With the success of the showcase design, Kass & Associates has designed 6 additional full-floor apartments in the building for individual Owners and has provided marketing plans for the penthouse and other floors for the building’s developer.

The design of the Traditional Flat showcase unit has been influenced by the classical revival exterior styling of the building, which was originally built to house the University Club. From the Elevator Lobby and Foyer, the space unfolds along a Gallery that links a highly ordered series of well proportioned rooms, each with its own character and function. The Gallery is punctuated by a domed Rotunda that extends to the Living Room & Dining Room and links at each side to the Kitchen and Master Suite, which includes an oak-paneled Sitting Room and separate His & Her Bathrooms.

The layout of the model unit emphasizes open circulation and flow, with each space opening onto the next, with the design blends the quality and elegance of traditional living with state-of-the-art technology and conveniences.
