A renovation of a 1950’s split-level house included the addition of a new Family Room at the rear of the residence along with first floor renovations to the Living Room and Dining Room, the refurbishing of the Master Bathroom on the second floor and Recreation Room in the basement. The new Family Room is designed as an extension to the Living Room and Dining Room. Openings between these rooms were widened to provide more light and open vistas throughout the public rooms of the house. The Family Room has a high, sloped ceiling lined in painted “V” groove boards. Corner windows enhance diagonal views and flood the space with ample daylight, while a wall for artwork highlights the view between rooms. A wall of built-in millwork has display shelves, drawers, and incorporates an entertainment unit with large screen television. The Living Room and Dining Room were enhanced with mouldings and a new fireplace surround flanked by custom designed cabinets and bookcases to each side. |
