This project involved the extensive renovation of a neglected 1910 Arts & Crafts style house into a country home along the Delaware River. With the careful additions of a new entry court and adjacent garage, the assemblage evokes an informal, rural homestead that appears to have evolved over time.

Interior walls throughout were selectively removed to provide an open flow of space and openings between the rooms widened to enhance light, and provide an open flow of space and expansive river views. The living room has a bay with an upholstered window seat. An adjacent, enclosed porch, with a heated, tumbled slate floor provides the perfect setting for family gatherings and meals during any season. Beyond the dining room, the kitchen displays a custom designed cork floor in a lively, over-scaled patchwork quilt pattern.

The second floor was reconfigured as a master suite for the Owners with master bedroom and bath at one end and a den and home office at the other. The third floor contains three modest bedrooms and bathrooms, each nestled into sloped roof shapes and dormers that provide the charm and character of a bed & breakfast or country inn.
