The lobby of Provident Mutual's headquarters froms the cermonial heart of the company. The two-story space has the character of an outdoor courtyard inserted within the building. An arcaded wall of rift-cut oak is slhouetted by the warm glow of natural light filtered through opalescent glass set in a shoji-like frame. The curved form of the lobby focuses on a flowing staircase that ascends to executive offices and forms the backdrop for employee social activities, holiday gatherings, and fund raising events for charitable and cultural institutions.
A portal under the staircase opens to a series of anterrooms that house a collection of antique furniture and artwork, providing a transition to the company's 1928 boardroom, which was moved from its original location and reassembled in this new facility.
